The Florentine Republic established the foundation of Scarperia, originally named Castel San Barnaba, in 1306. The name Scarperia was derived from its geographical position at the foot of a shoe. During that time, Scarperia's main street was home to various craft activities, such as workshops and laboratories where iron was worked, and agricultural tools and knives were produced. The processing and sale of knives and cutting tools became a defining feature of Scarperia's productive activities, and this craft soon became one of the elements that contributed to the town's expertise and reputation, earning it the title "Land of Cutting Tools."
In 1415, Scarperia became the seat of the Vicariate and assumed administrative functions delegated by the Florentine Republic. The Palace, originally built as a fortress, was transformed into the residence of the Vicar, now known as the "Palazzo dei Vicari." This historic building not only showcases architectural works but also features frescoes, heraldic emblems, and a unique clock designed by Filippo Brunelleschi, a renowned Renaissance architect and engineer. The restoration of this clock was made possible through the contribution of the Sanpellegrino Group.
Aqua Panna Spring Water, a product of the Sanpellegrino Group, is available in 8.8-ounce packs of 24. This premium spring water brand offers a refreshing and pure drinking experience, reflecting the company's commitment to quality and sustainability.
